This means that the median food service or food service workers earn $35,000 over a year, while the median non-service food service/food service workers average $27.25 per hour and $30.00 per hour respectively.
The survey also found that the food service industry is the highest paid in the nation, with a median salary of $35.35 per hour, which is over $70,000 higher than the national average of $24.70 per hour for the sector.
The report found that while there were fewer workers in the restaurant industry, this was a reflection of the large number of jobs that are related to food service in Australia.
